MAISON THE FAUX—GLAMPUSS
In collaboration with DJ YoungWoman and performer Arno Verbruggen, MAISON the FAUX investigates paganism. GLAMPUSS is an immersive installation that gives new meaning to false gods and forgotten rituals.
Pagan rituals and symbols stand at the core of an immersive installation; rituals and symbols that have been assimilated by Christianity and subsequently found their way as symbols of capitalism. The performance installation explores the tensions between the individual versus the mass, natural versus capitalist cycles and the desirability of abundance.
This work is commissioned by Das Leben am Haverkamp and Rewire as part of a long-term collaboration between the two platforms, facilitating space for experimental crossovers between fashion, performance art and music.
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
MAISON the FAUX (roughly translated as The Fictional House), is a creative studio run by Tessa de Boer (1990) and Joris Suk (1987). Their work is rooted in the great fascination of what’s real and fake, a great sense of humor and self-mockery, combined with a deep love of fashion. The studio specializes in performance art, fashion & costume design and set and interior design, in which they question good taste and mechanisms that underpin fashion. The work of MAISON the FAUX is determined by its multidisciplinary approach; creating a synergy that invites audiences to be a part of the MAISON the FAUX universe.
Arno Verbruggen (1997) is an interdisciplinary artist based in Brussels, Belgium. They specializes in dance, choreography, teaching, modelling and directing. Arno delivers immersive performances, incorporating dance, text, sound and fashion, crafting raw and visceral experiences.
YoungWoman is an Amsterdam-based Egyptian DJ, producer and co-founder of the Los Angles Collective. Energetic, surprising and playful — YoungWoman is quickly turning heads with her unique mixing approach: smashing and blending all genres while exploring the endless possibilities of music and of being a young woman.
